The programme is designed to reflect an approach to develop the professional competencies, attitudes and values of officers of the Zimbabwe Republic Police in their managerial capacity building and emphasize the acquisition of measurable skills, knowledge and attitudes and demonstrate importance and relevance to professional law enforcement.

 

 

Learning Outcomes

  • To enable police managers to acquire and develop, appropriate managerial competence, knowledge, skills, attitudes and values in order to effectively deal with the issues, problems and dilemmas of a dynamic policing environment.
  • To enable managers to relate their working situations to the local, regional and international environment.
  • To create a sustainable and dynamic leadership capacity within the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
  • To build the institutional capacity and organisational culture through which professional and leadership skills and competencies will be acquired.

LEVEL 2.1

Duration

  • The programme has a total of three (3) semesters. Two semesters are for full time study of eleven modules and research and innovation project shall be done in the third semester.
  • Students will be required to attend teaching sessions normally covering fifteen weeks in each semester. The total duration of the entire programme is one and half years.

 

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission applicants must: –

  • Satisfy the minimum requirements of passes in at least five [5] subjects, including English Language and Mathematics at ‘O’ Level     and
  • Must have attained a minimum rank of Assistant       Inspector or equivalent ranks in respect of sister organisations.

 

Target Audience

The program targets police officers and other members from the uniformed forces of the rank of Assistant Inspector (or equivalent) and above who are regarded as first line Managers.

 

Career Prospects

Graduates will be deployed as:

  • Projects Managers
  • Officers/Members in Charge (Stations and Sections).
